André Monet

André Monet

Inspired by cinema, photography, music and literature, Monet has a natural connection with today's society and his contemporaries.

His signature conceptual assemblage of text textures and colors exudes the eccentricity and power of his era, illustrating the characters and personalities of his icons.

Born in Montreal, Monet studied graphic design at Laval University while exploring other fine art mediums. He worked in fashion and advertising before devoting himself fully to art.

Monet explored various mediums such as mosaic, collage, and acrylic.
More recently, he has turned to portraiture. But not just any portrait: combining collages of old newspapers and books, paint, and varnishing, the features of his characters are recreated with such precision that, from a distance, they might appear to be realistic photographs. This new production reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals appearing in the canvases.
Monet was recently commissioned to paint the portrait of the century, that of Prince William and Kate Middleton, to celebrate their impending romantic union.
With great success in recent years, Monet's works have been exhibited in Paris, London, New York, Seoul, Singapore, Miami, Toronto, Montreal, Dubai and Hong Kong.
